Asphalt Restoration Perfected: The Infrared Difference
Conventional cold patch fixes and standard saw-cut methods leave cold, brittle joint lines where new asphalt meets old pavement. Over time, moisture forces its way into those open joints, causing patches to pop out after just one or two freeze-thaw cycles.
Here’s how J&W Asphalt uses state-of-the-art infrared thermal machinery to deliver a seamless, permanent bond:
Step 1Heat
Our technicians position specialized infrared heating panels directly over the damaged pavement section. Controlled thermal rays penetrate deep into the asphalt layer, softening existing material back to a workable state without scorching essential binder oils.
Step 2Reclaim & Re-Grade
We rake through the softened material, apply binder rejuvenating agents to restore flexibility, and mix in fresh hot-mix asphalt to restore proper depth, slope, and drainage pitch across the repair area.
Step 3Fuse & Compact
Using heavy mechanical rollers, we compact the area thoroughly. Because surrounding pavement was heated simultaneously, old and new asphalt fuse into a single continuous sheet, leaving zero cold seams for water to enter.
